You enlarged my path under me, so my feet did not slip. (Psalm 18:36)
Paul teaches us that we are all being transformed into the image of God with “ever increasing glory” (2 Corinthians 3:18).
Just as the glory is ever increasing, so the path is ever widening. Both of these images refer to the same reality: the life of the believer is a life of increase. It is a life in which there is greater light, greater strength, greater clarity, greater understanding, greater power . . . each and every day!
The crisis of our faith is that we are continually tempted to feel that we are losing ground, losing strength, losing power . . . Whenever you begin to think thoughts like, “I don’t know how much longer I can take this,” you know that you have failed to see your life through the lens of revelation.
As you meditate on this verse today, ask God to give you insight into its truth; ask him to show you that the path is widening in the very place where you think it is narrowing. Ask him to show you that you are increasing in the very place where you think you are decreasing. And ask him to show you that you are victorious in the very place where you feel defeated. Let this meditation cause you to sink deep into the truth today and there discover the hidden life you’ve always wanted to be the life you’ve always had in Christ.

In what place are you believing God to open your eyes and show you increase today? For me, it is physical health. I have a terrible case of the flu right now and my daughter has it as well. Not to mention countless members of our church have come down sick as well. I’m believing God to show me that he is increasing our authority over sickness and disease, although it looks like we are being dominated by sickness and disease. What are you asking God to show you today?
